Analysis of Electric Motors using Flux
Flux is a finite element analysis tool for low frequency electromagnetic and thermal simulation. Flux is capable of simulating both 2D and 3D topologies. Flux also includes circuit and kinematic coupling to take into account different kinds of electric supply and motion (rotating, translating or pivoting) into the simulation. Flux can also be coupled and exchange data with different tools to perform optimization, system, structural and NVH simulation.
Through this course, the participants will discover how to use Flux to perform different type of advanced analysis on a selected interior permanent magnet motor.
• The user should know how to use Flux on basic level or attend Flux Introduction course beforehand.
• Basic knowledge of electric motors is highly recommended.
• It is recommended to install the latest version of Flux with valid license to follow up with the exercise.

• Electric motor losses (including PWM effect) and power balance analysis.
• Electromagnetic force computation and export.
• Eccentricity analysis.
• Demagnetization effect on the permanent magnet.
• Winding inductance computation.
• Winding AC losses.
• Thermal analysis in Flux.

• Efficiency map computation.
